Working with other businesses, freelancers and service providers allows us to support our clients in all aspects of design, branding and marketing.
We love collaborating on projects, hand-picking talented people from our network who we know have the best skills and experience for each job.
As we’ve mentioned before on this blog, working in this way enables more flexibility and creativity.
Georgia Smith is a freelance graphic designer, specialising in print design and typography.
We first met her in 2017, just after she graduated. Matt helped her to shape her portfolio to land her first job in the creative industry.
“Collaboration is so important for achieving the best outcome for a project,” Georgia says.
“It’s surprising what you can learn and the ideas you can discover from working with fellow creatives.”
Georgia has experience working both in-house and as part of a growing creative agency and is passionate about her craft, even joining the International Society of Typographic Designers.
“It’s easy to work in isolation as a freelancer, but this can really limit your creativity. Surrounding yourself with others in a similar field is really important. I know that if I ever need creative support, Mattix Design is always there to help,” she adds.
Georgia is also keen to share her knowledge and emphasises the importance of learning the foundations of design:
“As a graphic designer, it’s important to understand the rules before you consider breaking them.”
Two books she recommends as must-reads are Grid Systems by Josef Müller-Brockmann and Type Matters! by Jim Williams.
“The best thing about working with Mattix Design is that Matt’s motivation rubs off on you. I always leave feeling inspired,” she tells us.
