A Look Back at 2019

A Look Back at 2019

What a brilliant year we’ve had at Mattix Design!

Here’s a look back at some of the highlights of the past twelve months as we go into 2020.

Hosting Hull Design Meetup.

Towards the end of 2018, we launched #HullDesignMeetup, which aims to bring together creatives, businesses, freelancers and industry experts in a range of free conferences, expert talks, interviews and panel discussions.

This year, we organised three events at C4DI, which proved to be very popular with the local design community.

First up, we had Owen Turner from United By Design, an agency based in York that connects brands and their audiences through careful strategy, thoughtful design and effective collaboration. Owen gave us insight into some of the team’s processes, strategy and collaboration techniques.

It was amazing to listen to Mike’s experience in digital consumer behaviour and psychology, which has led him to produce some fantastic results via website Conversion Rate Optimisation.

This month, we invited Jack White from Social Chain, who delivered an interesting talk comparing the similarities of marketing yourself and your brand and the art of modern-day courtship.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported Hull Design Meetup so far, whether you’ve attended an event or simply engaged with us on social media.

Working with new clients.

This year, we’ve also gained some exciting and prestigious new clients, including the NHS, MKM Building Supplies, the University of Hull, M-AR and Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network.

It’s been incredible to work with these companies on various web design and branding projects, as well as continue our work with Hull University Union, Hobson & Porter and Joshua James.

Mattix at the centre of digital innovation.

Not only has it been an exciting year of growth for Mattix, but also for Hull’s digital and tech hub, where our team is based.

Earlier this year, the £16 million development of Arco’s headquarters was announced, alongside news of a C4DI sister building.

It’s a wonderful time to be a part of the community, and the development will create much-needed space for many of the startups emerging in Hull and the wider region.

Continued collaboration.

We’ve continued our strong relationships with the C4DI community, working with several members and companies within the building to broaden our offering to clients.

Everyone at Mattix would like to say a special thank you to motion graphics designer Garth Lee, full-stack developer Mark Bucknall, design agency TH3 Design, IT specialists Just Gilbey, digital content creators Bloom Creative, photographer Mark Kensett, copywriter Tim Goodfellow and social media marketer Matt Johnson, who all continue to help us deliver the very best service to our clients.
